MAURICE WHEELER PH.D.
About
Throughout his career, Dr. Maurice Wheeler has been recognized as an innovative leader in academic and public libraries. A noted scholar and music archivist, he is Associate Professor of Information Science at the University of North Texas. His archival career began as music curator at the Detroit Public Library, where he facilitated the library’s acquisition of the personal archives of pioneering African American concert singer Roland Hayes. Wheeler’s degrees include a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, a Master of Music and Master of Library and Information Science, both from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Music. Active nationally and internationally as an author and presenter, his research broadly explores the intersection of diversity and organizational culture in library practice and education. Combining academic backgrounds in library and information science, music and his passion for archives and history, Wheeler’s research and publications are centered in cultural heritage informatics.
